Car Ramp

Car Ramps are simple devices that can be used at home in the driveway. If you plan to use a car ramp, you must take several things into consideration. Front end clearance problem is one of the things that you must know. Car ramps are a simple invention but when you consider that every car has different clearances it's not that simple anymore. Besides the size and type of tires, other things you should know are roll-off prevention, overtravel prevention, and tire centering.

There's a wide variety of car ramps. Each is unique and designed for different car types and different benefits. Most of these ramps can hold 10,000 pounds of Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) per pair. Typically car ramps are made in steel and usually heavy gauge and solid but it is entirely removable. A ramp's purpose varies according to its use.

"Extenders" as well as race ramps are included for a sport-type ramp. There are many types of ramps, including wheel cribs, roll-ups, flat stoppers, and scale ramps. Most of these car ramps are easy to find and at a very affordable price. You even buy a high-quality ramp for a very convenient value.

There are tons of things that you must know before purchasing a ramp. One question to ask is a very obvious one, how much weight or load does this ramp need to carry? Because of many build types of vehicles, the weight of it varies accordingly. The GVW of cars can range from 7,000 all the way to 12,000! Another factor that needs to be understood is the angle of inclination of the ramp. An angle of 7.8 degrees is a typical value, although it can vary depending on the length and design of the ramp.

If you have 56" or 67" ramps, there is a way to figure out what is required. An easy test you could do is to set one end of the yardstick at the front of the tire contact patch. Raise the other end of the yardstick until it touches the front spoiler at the bottom. If you have measured the vertical distance to be 7.25" or greater, then the car will surely clear the ramps. If not, then you're going to need some kind of an extender.

There are many kinds of ramps for many different kinds of needs. Manufacturers build it for cars, medical needs, aerospace, or advertising some displays. Manufacturers can build products that are tailored to your specific requirements.

Ultimately it will all vary on what exactly is the purpose of the ramp. Car Ramps are designed based on the size of the vehicles you will use them for as well as based upon the purpose for which they will be used.
